RONA – Contractor First
RONA is a major Canadian retailer and distributor of hardware, building materials and home renovation products. The corporation operates a network of over 500 corporate, franchise and independent affiliate stores of complementary formats. With its nine distribution centres, RONA serves its own network as well as many independent dealers operating under different banners. With the help of its nearly 24,000 employees, the Corporation generates annual consolidated sales of $4.1 billion.RONA premiered one of its Contractor First outlets in Edmonton (3111 – 76 Ave NW), and PANACEA engineers were proud to help make their vision into reality. A summary of the services PANACEA engineers provided were:
- Drainage evaluation on an existing commercial storage yard to meet Edmonton Drainage & Lot Grading standards
- 100 year storm water retention requirements from Edmonton Drainage
- Existing building and quansets had to be protected from flooding potential
- Analysis of existing storm infrastructure capacity & site drainage characteristics
- Design had to limit earthwork and grade changes which would alter yard functionality
- Maximized re-use of existing infrastructure thereby minimizing necessary yard changes
- Cooperation with Edmonton Lot Grading officials resulted in smoother building permit approval
